Kinnaur "The Land of Gods" is the most fascinating region of the Indian Himalayas. home to some of lndia's oldest traditions and legends Ancient texts have gone to the extent of placing the people of Kinnaur--THE KINNERS -- as halfway between men and gods. Mount Kinner Kailash (6'050 mtrs), has religious significance for a huge "SHIVA LINGAM" the representation of Lord Shiva which is a 79 feet vertical rock formation that resembles a Shivalinga and changes colour as the day passes. This is one of the mythical abodes of Lord Shiva.

The circuit around the whole range attracts many pilgrims every year. The Parikrama or circumambulation begins from Kalpa via Triung valley and back to Kalpa via Sangla valley. You drive upto Thangi and the actual trekking begins form here. The Kinnaur Kailash Range borders the Disctrict of Kinnaur in the south and is dominated by the Kinnaur Kailash (6349 Mts) and Jonkarden (6473 Mts) peaks. The only pass on this trek is the Charang La at an awesome altitude of 5300 Mts above sea level .
